Please pardon our progress! Downtown Springfield is active with several construction and streetscape projects. Here’s an update — Olive Street east of Campbell Avenue will be closed on Thursday and/or Friday January 18th and 19th, from 8:00 am until completion. The purpose of the closure is for utility relocations for the future parking garage on the southeast corner of Campbell Avenue and Olive Street. Access to the parking lots on Olive Street east of Campbell Avenue will be via Boonville Avenue. Main Avenue between College and McDaniel will be closed through Monday, January 15, as Public Works resurfaces the street and install a new sidewalk in the area of the Monarch Art Factory. Construction on Market Avenue between McDaniel and Walnut will continue in preparation for the College Station Car Park. One lane will remain open at all times. A new streetscape (sidewalk, historical lighting, and landscaping) is currently under construction on the north sidewalk on Pershing Street between Robberson and Jefferson in the area of Wilhoit Plaza. Both lanes should remain open, but some parallel parking will be affected. This project should be completed by mid January. Please contact Jason Haynes, Public Works-Traffic Engineering, at 864-1980 or Barb Baker, CID Manager, at 831-6200 for additional information.
