Springfield, Mo. – On Friday, October 7, 2011, the Askinosie Chocolate team released their newest chocolate bar: a dark milk chocolate topped with black licorice from Sweden.
This new bar is a part of the CollaBARation™ line, which the Askinosie team has been working on for several months. The chocolate makers are partnering with some of their favorite artisan food friends from around the world on a chocolate bar involving an ingredient for which the collaborator is well known. The top-secret, single origin bars will be released periodically over the next fourteen months. The bars’ ingredients and collaborators will be kept a secret until the release of each bar. For 2 months, each bar will only be available at the Askinosie Chocolate storefront, on the Askinosie Chocolate website, and the region where the collaborator, and then the bar will be released to wholesale customers around the globe.
For the first chocolate bar of the line, Askinosie Chocolate partnered with Martin Jorgensen, their Scandinavian distributor and owner of a licorice factory in Sweden. The licorice is organic and gluten-free and hand crafted in Jorgensen’s small factory. The bar features Askinosie’s dark milk chocolate and is topped with Jorgensen’s salty licorice, plus anise seed, which highlights the licorice flavor.
Shawn Askinosie, owner and founder of Askinosie Chocolate, says of the CollaBARation™ line, “We came up with the idea to partner with these collaborators because many of them are very well known food artisans whom we respect and admire. We wanted to create unique, flavorful chocolate bars that were exclusive, but could eventually be enjoyed by our fans around the world. We promise that you will not be disappointed by the many bars that will follow– there is something for everyone, but you’ll just have to stay tuned to see what’s next!”
