LemonDrop is hosting an Art-a-Thon on Friday, July 13, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. the following morning.
We did this in the past at Art Factory 417 and not only was it a successful fundraiser, it was a blast!
It’s the same concept as a Dance-a-Thon or Walk-a-Thon.the artist emails us and requests pledge cards to print, then he or she hits up his or her friends/coworkers/family members/supporters of the arts etc and asks them to pledge a dollar amount PER HOUR. The per hour part is important.
Then, on July 13 (Friday the 13th) the artists show up at LemonDrop with their art supplies and their filled out pledge cards, and they see how long they can stay awake and make art. We cap the event at 12 hours.
We do live updates to Facebook with images (and possibly video) of each artist’s work so his or her pledgers can follow his or her progress. The highest pledger for each artist gets to keep the finished piece after it shows August 3, 2012 at LemonDrop during the First Friday C-Street Stroll.
We will have coffee and food (hopefully donated… last time Coffee Ethic and St. Michael’s donated yummy food and coffee).
There will be music. It will be fun!
This time we are going to split funds as follows: 20% to the artist, 30% to LemonDrop and the remaining 50% will go to a fund to provide art supplies for an elementary school art teacher in the area who needs help covering costs. This lucky teacher is yet to be determined. I will keep you posted and we’ll take suggestions.
Thanks for your time and interest!
