The Springfield Symphony Orchestra will hold auditions for the 2012-2013 season on August 26 at Clara Thompson Hall on the campus of Drury University with times to be assigned.
The Symphony is looking to fill the following positions: third bassoon/contrabassoon, third horn, tuba, harp, first violin, second violin, principal viola, assistant principal viola and on-call spots for all instruments.
Musicians interested in auditioning should send an audition registration form, current resume and a $25 refundable deposit to the Springfield Symphony office, 411 N. Sherman Parkway, Springfield, MO 65802, by Friday, August 17.
When an applicant’s deposit is received he or she will be sent an information packet for use in preparing for the audition, which includes the requirements for each instrument. Applicants who do not show up for auditions automatically forfeit their deposits.
The Springfield Symphony Orchestra is a professional orchestra whose musicians will perform six classical and three pops concerts during the 2012-2013 season. The season runs from September through May. The Orchestra will also present a series of Young People’s Concerts and Ensembles-In-Schools outreach programs for elementary students during the season.
