A paper recycling bin now is available for Springfield residents on the parking lot of St. Agnes Cathedral and Elementary School downtown (533 South Jefferson Avenue).
The paper collected in these Big Green Bins is used by Nestlé Purina to produce cat and dog litters at its nearby Springfield manufacturing facility. secondnature® brand Dog Litter and Yesterday’s News® brand Cat Litters use recycled paper as their main ingredient, are highly absorbent, control odors and are virtually dust free – plus, they’re locally made in the Ozarks.
“Please help us in our recycling efforts by bringing your paper products to our Big Green Bins,” says Elizabeth Aull, Recycling Coordinator, Nestlé Purina. “The church and school are hosting the bin as an outreach to the community, leading the way for environmental stewardship.”
Paper items must be clean and dry, and can be placed in paper bags or loose in the bin – there is no need to separate the items. After placing the paper in the bin, recyclers are asked to shut the lid or sliding doors.
