Campbell Avenue between Mount Vernon Street and Walnut Street will be closed beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 for utility and traffic signal work associated with the streetscape project. Motorists are advised to use the marked detour via State Street, Grant Avenue, and College Street. The sidewalk in this area will also be closed along Campbell Avenue during the construction. Campbell Avenue should be reopened to traffic on April 12, 2013, weather permitting.
This project will continue the streetscape improvements on Campbell Avenue. The project will include the construction of sidewalks, lighting, stormwater improvements, gas and water main renewals, and traffic signal improvements. The project is funded through a Federal Transportation Enhancement Grant, a Community Development Block Grant, the Springfield-Greene County Urban Watershed Stewardship Project, the 2006 Parks and Waterways Sales Tax, and the 1/4-Cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax.
