Springfield, MO, November 19, 2013- The Urban Districts Alliance is now accepting float and band applications for the 2013 Downtown Springfield Christmas Parade presented by Systematic Savings Bank.
The parade is Saturday, Dec. 14th, at 2 pm in Downtown Springfield. The theme of this year’s parade is “Joy to the World.”
The Parade will be led by Grand Marshal, Dr. Robert Spence, president of Evangel University, in recognition of his 40 years of service to the community. Featuring more than 60 floats, 10 marching bands, and Santa himself, the parade will wind around Park Central Square and end at Jordan Valley Park.
Applications are available on the downtown website,www.itsalldowntown.com/christmasparade.
The entry fee for non-profit organization or churches is $150, and business entries are $250. Local and regional marching bands are encouraged to participate at no cost. Applications must be postmarked by Nov. 30, 2013.
This year’s parade will begin at South Avenue and Elm Street; continue north on South Avenue to Park Central Square; proceed clockwise around the square and exit the Square on Park Central East. The parade will take a left at Kimbrough Avenue and a right on Trafficway Street ending at Jordan Valley Park.
The Downtown Springfield Christmas Parade is part of the Festival of Lights, a six-week celebration containing a flurry of holiday activities in Springfield’s Center City from Nov. 23 through New Year’s Day. The Festival of Lights calendar can be found at www.itsalldowntown.com/fol.
