Discovery Center is a great family oriented attraction for the SW Missouri area. 11 different galleries and over 200 different hands on exhibits are available for family members of all ages. Explore a wide variety of interactive science and culture exhibits, all designed to encourage asking questions, investigating, and learning something new! Discovery Center is located at 438 E St. Louis St. in downtown Springfield with free parking in Discovery Center parking lot located east of the main doors. Treasure! traveling exhibit has an extended stay in January. It will be open until Sunday, January 19, 2014. General Admission is $12.00 adults, $10.00 seniors and $8.00 for children (age 3-15 )and children 2 & under are free. Operating hours are Tuesday-Thursday 9am-5pm, Friday – Saturday 9am-6pm and Sunday 1-5pm. Check the website at www.discoverycenter.org for upcoming events!

Thursday, January 16, 2014 6-8pm, Science Cafe – Join us at a New Location – Mille’s Cafe for Science Cafe Discussion – Joint Health from a Food Source – did you know your joints can benefit from something we all keep in the fridge? Learn how a local company is using eggshells and eggshell membranes to make supplements for bone and joint health! Nena Dockery from ESM Technologies will share the natural nutrients found in this food-derived source and how ESM Technologies is driving the science to help improve joint comfort and flexibility. Friday, January 17, 2014 Science Sprouts – 9am-6pm The 3rd Friday of each month from now till February we invite all young learners up to age 6 to learn, explore and discover a different topic each month. January’s topic is Get Food Fit (Nutrition). Enjoy story time with Park Central Library 10am & 1pm and a special science demonstration at 11am & 2pm. General Admission applies.
Saturday, January 18, 2014 DCS Garage Sale 7am-3pm – Discovery Center has many used parts and variety of old exhibits and office furniture. This sale will be located in the lobby and no general admission applies. All proceeds to benefit DCS New Exhibit Fund.

Monday, January 20, 2014 – Martin Luther King Day -9am-5pm. Discovery Center is open to the public during this holiday. General Admission applies.
Saturday, January 25, 2014 – Dissection Workshop – Squid Ages 7+
Designed for parent and child to attend together as a learning team! A Discovery Center Educator will guide participants in learning about animal classification, identifying features of specific specimens, and a guided dissection experience. Come join us for one of these unique learning adventures!
Time: 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. OR 1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m.
Age: 7 and up
Cost of specimen: $15.00
Cost of workshop: $25.00 member parent/child duo OR $30.00 non-member parent/child duo
