On Thursday, Jan 17, Askinosie Chocolate was presented a prestigious 2013
Good Food Award for its Dark Milk Chocolate + Fleur del Sel Bar in San Francisco, Ca.
The Good Food Awards recognize “tasty, authentic and responsibly produced” food in
ten categories, according to the organization’s press release. Winners were selected in a blind
tasting by a panel of 225 esteemed judges of over 1,450 entries and then companies were
rigorously evaluated on how the product was sourced and crafted. In addition to the win, Shawn
Askinosie, founder and CEO of Askinosie Chocolate, was one of only 10 winners selected to
give a speech about the impact of the award and what “good food” means.
“We are honored to receive a Good Food Award again this year,” said Allison Cash,

crafting exceptional chocolate but also positively impacting those we encounter.”
The third annual Good Food Awards ceremony—often nicknamed the ‘Oscars of food’—
was hosted by famed chef Alice Waters, New York Times food critic Ruth Reichl, Nell Newman
of Newman’s Own, and Zeke Emanuel, adviser to President Obama on health care. The Good
