Wednesday, April 22 | Submitted by Downtown Springfield | Downtown Central
Spring brings green grass, budding trees, and many run/walks to Downtown. Two significant events will be held this Saturday, April 25, that will bring thousands of people to Downtown – the Color Run and the Easter Seals Walk with Me. We encourage you to reach out to the race fans and participants on social media and with your sidewalk sandwich boards while they are here in our Downtown.
For the two-hour length of the Color Run (9:00 to 11:00 am), St. Louis Street is scheduled to remain open and will be the best entry point into the heart of Downtown. Maps are attached for details on each route. Please communicate with your customers and employees accordingly.
Color Run – 9:00 am to 11:00 am
The Color Run will start and end near Regal Theaters this year in order to reduce conflicts with the Easter Seals Walk at Jordan Valley Park. The Color Run will proceed south on Market Street by Springfield Brewing Company to State Street. It will then then turn east through the northwest corner of the Missouri State campus to John Q. Hammons Parkway. It will then go north two blocks to Walnut Street where it will head back to the west toward Downtown. It will turn south on Jefferson the southern edge of Downtown. It will then proceed north on Campbell to the IDEA Commons and then wrap up back at Regal Theaters. This race should be finished in a couple of hours and before lunch for our restaurants. Please note that access to Downtown from the west and south will be limited during the two-hour time frame of the race, so St. Louis Street will be a better alternate route for customers and employees.
Easter Seals Walk with Me – 10:00 am to 11:00 am
This route will be centered in and around Jordan Valley Park. It will be bounded by Trafficway on the south, Sherman to the east, Phelps to the north, and Boonville to the west. Access to Downtown from the north on Boonville will be limited from Tampa to Water for the one hour from 10 am to 11 am.
Contact our office at (417) 831-6200 before Friday, April 24, at 5:00 pm if you have any questions.
