Commercial Club

Among the hip lofts and ornate brick-work facades of buildings built in the late 1800s lies a tight-knit community interested in returning their historic district to its full glory.
Volunteer-driven and membership-based, the Commercial Club is a non-profit organization that focuses its attention on Center City’s northern neighborhood through planning and sponsorship of special events, a farmer’s market and supporting the beautification of district landmarks, like the Jefferson Avenue Footbridge.
Commercial Club is also responsible for facilitating the design and implementation of street scape improvements in the Commercial Street historic district.
The district is known for its eclectic retail mix and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The district is located between Lyon and Washington Streets.
Visible in everything they do, Commercial Club's purpose is simply to promote the historic aspects of their district, promote business, and facilitate cooperation between their business district and the surrounding neighborhoods.
The club sponsors events for the cosmopolitan in all of us, like the annual Loft Walk, the C-Street Jam Music Festival, and varied smaller events like our Silent Film Summer Series set to live ragtime music and held in the courtyard of historic Fire Station #2.
Visit the street in April through October and you'll find the C-Street Market, a quaint Farmer's Market offering produce, breads, flowers, arts and crafts. Visit http://thecommercialstreetmarket.com/ for vendor listings, links and market schedules.
Or, just come to do a little shopping in our growing selection of shops and businesses.
Commercial Club general membership meetings are held the first Tuesday of every month at 6:oo p.m. on the second floor of our Commercial Club building, 299 E. Commercial Street.
Come. “Rediscover the Treasure of Springfield.”
