Art Inspired provides event hosting space, custom made greeting cards from recycled office paper, art gallery space for local artists, and art classes for the whole family! Our mission is to provide employment for individuals with and without developmental disabilities and allow them to work and grow together in an inclusive environment.

Jason Mathews with Art Inspired answers a few questions about starting and owning a business downtown.
What drew you to Downtown?
The “Hub” of Springfield’s art culture is downtown, so it seemed like the perfect fit. Downtown is a terrific central location which helps to promote our mission and model of an inclusive work environment in providing employment opportunities for people with developmental disabilities.
What unique products and services do you offer?
We offer a wide variety products and services. Our products, featuring PaperCrete, use recycled paper to create environmentally conscious, beautiful items for your home or business. In our gallery, local artists showcase their art, handmade jewelry, etc. We also offer Studio Sessions featuring local artists teaching painting, calligraphy, jewelry making, and much more. We offer an intimate space for private parties including options for Karaoke, Green Screen Photo fun, catering, and live music. Our Creation Station includes supplies that can be used to personalize any of our recycled paper products. In addition to First Friday Art Walk, we offer Open Mic Nights on the 1st Thursday of every month and Karaoke Nights on the 3rd Thursday of every month. These events are FREE for all ages, and BYOB. Donations always appreciated at our free events so that we can continue, as well as add more events in the future.
How do you cross-promote fellow Downtown businesses?
When we need products or services for Art Inspired, our Downtown neighbors are the first people we call. We are a part of the DSA, Downtown Retailers Association, Member of First Friday Art Walk, and participate in Downtown organizations and collaborative events. In addition, we are happy to share special events and announcements on social media along with approved flyers posted in our windows.
What is your vision for Downtown and your store over the next three years?
We plan to grow our PaperCrete product line to include many more products, including ones for commercial use. We will add many more Studio Sessions and events here throughout the year and provide opportunities for the community to be inspired through art and music. In the near future, we are collaborating with a generous landowner and local artists on a new Downtown Art Mural (Details to be announced soon!)
