City Utilities is offering Gigabit Fiber Internet to small businesses in Downtown Springfield. According to the News-Leader, the Small Business Program will serve companies operating between Chestnut to Elm, National to Grant.
Thomas Gounley, News-Leader:
SpringNet Director Jeff Bertholdi said the project is a partnership between CU, the City of Springfield, the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Missouri State University.
Bertholdi estimated the average downtown business has 20 megabit Internet service, meaning the 1-gigabit offering would provide 50 times faster downloads and 200 times faster uploads. Businesses that want to determine if they are eligible for the new service can visit SpringNet or call 417-575-7000. SpringNet will ask for information regarding annual revenue, number of employees and other factors to determine eligibility.
