Since 1995, Blue October has been a refuge for its members and fans worldwide. Over the course of five albums, platinum sales with singles like “Hate Me” and “Into The Ocean,” and non-stop touring has solidified the band’s presence in the music world.
The jarringly frank ”Hate Me,” is one of many reasons that this modern rock outfit Blue October evolved from an intensely beloved cult band to mainstream radio conquerors.
They’ve had high-profile film and TV placements on The Sopranos, Saw III, and NCIS to name a few. Lead singer Justin Furstenfeld was also featured in a unique tour alongside Twilight author Stephanie Meyer in 2008. They’ve played to fans in nearly every corner of the world. It all set the stage for their new album, Any Man in America.
Operated by the Springfield Landmarks Preservation Trust, the restoration of the Gillioz Theatre was completed in October 2006, eighty years after the original opening. In its early years, the Gillioz was Springfield’s premier entertainment venue, hosting a number of movie premiers and vaudeville shows. Both the lobby and auditorium have been restored to their original 1926 condition, which has made it a must-see for tourists traveling the former Route 66. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
