On Friday, February 24th, the second event in MSU’s master filmmaker series will take place in Plaster Student Union.

The Necessities of Life (2008)  by Benoit Pilon

The Media, Journalism and Film Department and Modern & Classical Languages Departments will sponsor a visti by Canadian filmmaker, Benoit Pilon.

The Necessities of Life tells the story of an Inuit Eskimo hunter named Tivii.  Suffering from tuberculosis, Tivii is transported by the Canadian government from his northern home to a sanatorium in Quebec City. Uprooted from his family, unable to speak French, and faced with a completely alien world.  When Tivii becomes despondent  his nurse arranges to have a young orphan boy, Kaki, transferred to the sanatorium. Through his relationship with the boy, Tivii rediscovers his energy and pride.

Cost: This event is free and open to the public.

Parking:
Park & Ride Garage next to the Hammons Hall for the Perfoming Arts (take shuttle to Plaster Student Union).  Or park in Lot 24 south of Grand (enter off of National Ave just south of Grand St.) is also available for free parking.
