Randy Bacon Photography Studio and Gallery, located in the Monarch Art Factory at 600 W. College, will feature artist Shannon Bacon for March Art Walk. The opening reception will be from 6-10 p.m. on March 2, 2012, as a part of First Friday Art Walk. The reception and refreshments are free, with music by Black Box Revue.
Shannon Bacon has been a “closet painter” since she was old enough to hold a brush. While her most noticeable artistic contributions have been marked by her career as a professional writer and film creator alongside her husband Randy Bacon, this show represents her belief in art as a story and a connection to people. Everybody has a “story” about life they want to share or remember. I desire to hear those and then create a healing or inspirational painting that isn’t “just a painting”, but something a person would look at with meaning and purpose,” says Shannon.
In her upcoming show, Shannon will be pairing her work with short written segments, reflecting on her thought process, the emotions, and meaning of the piece. Her paintings are brought about through friendships, life changing events and ultimately the people who have characterized her life. Each piece is a reflection on her life, and tend to showcase her love for acrylic, oil, watercolor, and collage work. Shannon is inspired by the artistMatisse, and enjoys working with different kinds of papers she often incorporates into her art and designs. She also is inspired by Picasso, Georgia O’Keefe and many photographers, including her husband’s photography.
The Randy Bacon team in addition to her many supporters are so excited to share in this event with Shannon. As an act of love, Shannon will be contributing %20 of all work sold to S.T.A.N.D (stop the abuse next door, stand4justice.org/) and Project 61.
