The heart of downtown Springfield will be transformed into the biggest block party of the summer when Slide the City slides from Park Central Square down Boonville hill on July 16. Springfield is one of two Slide the City locations in Missouri this summer. Families and friends alike can zoom down the giant waterslide while onlookers enjoy the surrounding block party.
“We are beyond excited to be coming to Springfield for the first time,” said Spencer Hunn, Slide the City co-owner. “We hope everyone will come out to have a blast and remember what it’s like to be a kid again!”
This massive event is bigger and better than the average block party. Staring at 9 a.m., families, friends and neighbors are invited to take a break from the heat, speeding through the city on inner tubes. Along with the one-of-a-kind slide, the block party will include food, music, and local vendors.
Online registration is now open. Participants can purchase a single ride, half-day or full-day slider pass during a selected wave time and are encouraged to sign up; pricing starts at $15. All those over 5 years of age and 46 inches tall are welcome to slide! Visit the Slide the City Facebook page to see what fans have to say.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Downtown Springfield Association and for Route 66 projects as coordinated by the City of Springfield.
About Slide the City
