Downtown Springfield Association

The Downtown Springfield Association is a non-profit 501c6 community development organization that draws thousands of patrons to its iconic and family-friendly events each year. These events are key to attracting new businesses and residents for downtown’s continued revitalization.

DSA seeks qualified applicants for its Events Intern position. The successful candidate will demonstrate competency in and passion for the following areas:

  • Top-notch organizational skills
  • Hospitality-first mindset
  • Basic PR writing know-how
  • Creative problem solver
  • Research and data driven
  • Familiar with Google Drive products, mail merge, etc.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist the DSA Events Manager with the following community events in Downtown Springfield:
    • Artsfest, May 5 & 6, 2018
    • Taste of SoMo, June 23, 2018
    • New events supporting the mission of DSA as approved by the DSA Board

Primary duties include assisting the DSA Events Manager with the following:

  • Attend and take notes for every event committee meeting
  • Sit on volunteer subcommittees as the DSA representative
  • Draft participant communication
  • Coordinate all in-kind sponsorships
  • Gather sponsor collateral for social media and design team
  • Support events managers on logistics
  • Work the events
  • Manage event listings (locations, times, ticket costs, parking, etc.)
  • Draft event press releases

Time Commitment:
Mid-January through mid-July 2018
10-15 hours per week (about 250 hours in total)

Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship that will help you make invaluable connections in the local community, helping you land a top notch job post graduation. In addition, academic credit and flexible work locations can be arranged.
