Operazzi to Feature Famed Tenor, Steven Tharp

Springfield Regional Opera's Operazzi will feature Springfield-born and critically acclaimed tenor, Steven Tharp, Thursday, March 27 from 6-8 p.m.at Nonna's Italian American Café in downtown Springfield.
Mr. Tharp has performed with the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Netherlands Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, the Badisches Staatsoper in Karlsruhe, Opera Pacific, the Minnesota Opera, Bel Canto at Caramoor, and the companies of Dallas, Houston, Seattle, Memphis, Omaha, Salt Lake City and Miami. In addition to the major tenor parts of Mozart and Handel, his more than 50 operatic roles include Jaquino in Fidelio, Nemorino in L¹Elisir d¹Amore, David in Die Meistersinger, and Lysander in Midsummer Night¹s Dream. Mr. Tharp sang the title role in the American premiere of Conti¹s Don Chisciotte at the Caramoor Festival in 2004 and made his 2005 debut with the Netherlands Reisopera in Gassmann¹s L¹Opera Seria. He will return to the Reisopera in future seasons for Boris Godunov and Les Contes d¹Hoffman.
