Saturday, June 21 2008 (07:00PM) | Location: Park Central Square | Posted by UDA | Special Events, Nightlife, Music

Enjoy some of Downtown's best live music this summer at Park Central Square in a FREE concert series presented by the Urban Districts Alliance. Bring your lawn chairs or enjoy dinner on the square in one of three outdoor cafes while enjoying great local music. Make it an extra special evening with a carriage ride on the square by Shires for Hire for just $5 per person. Going downtown for a night out is always a special event, it's all part of the Downtown Difference.
Starting the line-up for this performance is Lance Sitton & Solstice. Followed by one of Springfield's hottest local bands Hot Box! HOTBOX is widely considered one of the most talented, entertaining and professional acts in the midwest. HOTBOX is a collaboration of some of the finest talents in the region. With the burn of soul and a drive to entertain, HOTBOX traveled across the Midwest in 2007 playing 211 dates in their first year of existence. To learn more about Hot Box, please visit Hot Box. Following Hot Box. Tonights featured performance is by the incredible Lost Hill Band! A one of a kind "hillgrass" experience right here in Springfield from the members of Lost Hill; Big Mike Williamson (Bass/mouth bow/harmonica/vocals), Dan O'Day (Fiddle Fiddle player extraordinaire), Kenny Key (Guitar/mandolin/vocals), Brian Grim (Dobro/vocals) and special 'sit in' guest Dave Harp of the Arkamo Rangers. "It's hillgrass - not quite bluegrass, not quite hillbilly. It's acoustic instrumentation with character - emphasis on character. If you're waiting for that music that forces you to smile...to long for a porch to swing on...than take a walk along Lost Hill. Because fun music...that's serious business." The concert series continues on Fridays and Saturdays for the first three weekends in June from 7 until 10 p.m. FREE admission -- so plan to come out before or after dinner at one of the 40 Downtown restaurants.
