Downtown Springfield will host a flurry of activities for the 2016 Festival of Lights season. Festival of Lights kicks off Saturday, Nov. 19 with the lighting of the Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony at Jordan Valley Park at 5 pm and the lighting of the Park Central Square tree at 7 pm.
Other Festival of Lights activities throughout November and December include horse-drawn carriage rides, free ice skating, holiday productions, shows and concerts, a loft walk, Christmas light displays in Jordan Valley Park, the Downtown Springfield Christmas Parade and First Night Springfield. Festival of Lights is presented by the Downtown Springfield Community Improvement District, the Springfield-Greene County Park Board, Downtown Springfield Association, and the City of Springfield.
Nov. 12 — Shop Downtown – Holiday Kick Off, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.: Downtown retailers welcome guests for an open house of local downtown shops.
Nov. 19 — Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony, 5 pm at Jordan Valley Park – Mayor Bob Stephens lights the tree.
Nov. 19 — Park Central Square Tree Lighting – 7 p.m.
Nov. 19 — FREE Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides, 6-9 p.m. in Downtown Springfield
