August’s Backyard Friday Flix celebrates a milestone of American cultural history: the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock musical festival! If you were not one of the half million to make it to Yasgur’s farm, then join us at Von Schrag’s farm (that is, Mother’s backyard) for a presentation of the landmark 1970 documentary film ‘Woodstock.’
Michael Wadleigh’s film captures the spirit of an event that marked a watershed moment in US history. Featuring iconic performances from Richie Havens, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, Joan Baez, Arlo Guthrie, Joe Cocker, The Who, Santana, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, and more, ‘Woodstock’ remains, a half decade later, a defining document of the counterculture movement. Film geeks take note that in addition to winning the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature, it features editing work by a young Marin Scorsese and Thelma Schoonmaker.
And since we’re screening this 50 years to the day of the actual festival, we’re throwing an aquarian exposition of our own:
– TIE-DYE YOUR OWN MOTHER’S T-SHIRT
– SPECIAL SUNSHINE CHUGSUCKLE FIRKIN AT 6PM
– SPECIALLY CRAFTED, PSYCHEDELIC ADULT SLUSHEES ON TAP
– STEVIE NEWMAN HAS ASSEMBLED AN ACE ENSEMBLE TO PERFORM THE GROOVIEST 60’S SET BEFORE THE FILM 6-8PM
-MOVIE STARTS AT SUNDOWN

Let your freak flag fly! Dress out in hippie best.
All ages, but keep in mind Woodstock includes innocent hippie nudity, reefer, Country Joe’s ‘F-I-S-H’ chant, and brown acid.
So if you’re an old soul looking to shake those ole cosmic blues, get to our backyard on Friday, August 16, and remember: grazin’ in the grass is a gas, can you dig it?!
