This is an entire evening of arts and entertainment! The night begins at 6:30 with a poetry slam, run by the “Show Me Poetry” organization. A poetry slam is a competition comprised of three rounds, during which poets have three minutes to perform their original work. The poet with the highest score at the end of the night takes home fifty dollars. Though the competition provides an exciting and engaging structure to the evening, the Show Me Poetry group creates a laid-back and inviting atmosphere where what truly drives the event is community camaraderie, as well as enthusiastic respect for artistic expression. There is a $7 entrance fee for all attendees.
Following the poetry slam, I’ll be bringing Mountain Soul Music back to Nathan P. Murphy’s once again! with the show beginning at 9:00!
