Retiring from that position to pursue his doctorate in sociology at Washington University, Mike retired recently as a university professor and criminologist having conducted international field research on police, prisons, youth gangs and delinquency. His book on street gangs has been adopted by law enforcement and correctional agencies and community-based non-profits throughout the United States.
