Are you a communications whiz with a passion for the downtown Springfield community? The Downtown Springfield Association seeks qualified applicants for its communications manager position. The successful candidate will demonstrate competency and experience in the following areas:
Communications
- Coordinate the branding efforts for downtown Springfield
- Design and produce print collateral to promote downtown initiatives
- Coordinate written content to promote downtown initiatives
- Spearhead marketing for all Downtown Springfield Association events
- Maintain itsalldowntown.com with the following materials:
- Downtown events
- Business directory
- Loft listings
- Commercial property resources
- Parking and street closure information
- Development resources
- Prepare and distribute news releases on downtown initiatives and events
- Coordinate weekly downtown Weekend Guide e-newsletter
- Conduct media interviews on downtown development, initiatives and events as needed
- Represent DSA in communications/media initiatives and planning with other major civic partners (City, Chamber, CVB, SRAC, etc.)
- Work with DSA Engagement Committee to develop new communications resources and initiatives
- Manage internal communications (member e-blasts, Facebook group cultivation, etc.)
- Coordinate user experience between website, social media, printed materials and other platforms
- Monitor website and social media traffic and provide periodic reports to downtown stakeholders
- Develop cooperative marketing materials and campaigns for downtown retailers.
- Monitor International Downtown Association, Main Street, Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and other industries to provide suggestions on best practices
Organizational Support
Attend the meetings for the following downtown groups:
- DSA Board Meetings
- DSA Monthly Mixers
- DSA Engagement Committee
- DSA Retail Committee
Event Support
Assist the DSA Event Manager with communications:
- Recognition of sponsors
- Graphic design (programs, banners, signage, etc.)
- Answering frequently asked questions on social media and general email
- Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and emerging social media postings
On-site event support for the following:
- Taste of SoMo, June 23
- Cider Days, September 15–16
- Christmas Parade, December 8
- Downtown Awards, January 31
- Rated SGF Film Festival, March 23
- Artsfest, May 4–5
- Other events as assigned
