Five tips to help you win this Small Business Saturday

November 27, 2019

Small Business Saturday is coming up! This Thanksgiving-weekend tradition allows you to buy your holiday presents for loved ones while also supporting the locally-owned, small businesses that make Downtown Springfield such a great place.

There will be plenty of things happening downtown this Small Biz Saturday. Here are some pro tips to make sure you get the most out of the day.

Do Your Homework

Get a sneak preview of the merchandise you’ll see by checking out our 2019 Holiday Shopping Guide. It currently features merchandise from several downtown shops — including SOAP refill station and The Merry Moore Boutique — with more coming soon!

Start Early

5 Pound Apparel is an iconic shop on South Street and always has great specials on Small Business Saturday. That includes special deals for the first customers in line. We know what those deals are, but we’ve been sworn to secrecy! 5 Pound Apparel will open its doors at 9 a.m.

Slow Down and Crawl

A Small Business Saturday craft show has returned to Downtown Springfield! The 417 Craft Crawl will be at 319 West Walnut. Just $5 gets you in the door and gives you a chance to shop the best local and regional makers. Get there early if you can. The first 100 shoppers get an awesome swag bag filled with some amazing items!

Fuel Up

All that shopping is sure to make you hungry. Thankfully Downtown Springfield has dozens of delicious restaurants. That includes The Order, inside Hotel Vandivort. Their Living Room Lineup series features musician Jessamyn Orchard this Saturday. Enjoy her live music from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. while you dine. Lost Signal Brewing Company has a special deal happening on Saturday. Bring in a receipt from a local Springfield business you shopped for Small Business Saturday and you’ll get a half-price appetizer. While you’re there, check out their growlers, glasses and other merch for the craft beer lover in your life.

Stop and See The Windows

While you stroll around downtown, check out the Team A.N.A. 417 Downtown Springfield Holiday Window Challenge! Some 20 businesses have dressed up their windows for the holiday season, to benefit Team A.N.A. 417, a local non-profit that helps patients and their families while they deal with benign brain tumors.
