Help the heroes in Downtown Springfield

April 23, 2020

Here’s a message to all healthcare workers and first responders: Downtown Springfield loves you!

Several downtown businesses are doing what they can to say thank you to everyone on the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis. Some are offering special deals for workers, while others are providing opportunities to help donate food, coffee and even beer to the heroes who keep us safe.

Want to chip in? Here are five ways you can show your gratitude!

Civil Kitchen

Are you a health care employee? Civil Kitchen has a special deal for you! You can get a Smash Burger with fries and a soft drink for just $6 every day they’re open.

But that’s not all Civil Kitchen is doing. Earlier this month they partnered with Justin Mayfield to take 58 meals to Mercy for its respiratory team. Those meals came with encouraging words written on the boxes.

Kingdom Coffee

Want to support frontline workers? How about treating them to a cup of coffee? Kingdom has Hero Cards, gift vouchers you can give to essential workers. These $5 Hero Cards come in packs of five. They are redeemable at Kingdom’s downtown location.

PaPPo’s Pizzeria & Pub

Pappo’s is here to help feed our community’s health care heroes and you can help! Their Pizza 4 Heroes program allows you to donate dinner for healthcare professionals and first responders. Visit their website to donate. You can even pick the hospital, fire station or police station! Not sure where to send it? PaPPo’s will reach out to the hospitals to find out which department needs it the most and spread the love.

You can donate $62 or $102 to feed the heroes. Any donation is accepted and all donations will go toward covering delivery fees, tips and administrative costs.

Springfield Brewing Company

Want to send a beer to a healthcare worker? Check out Springfield Brewing Company’s Pint Of Thanks program!

You can visit their website and purchase a pint or crowler for your favorite healthcare worker. SBC will send them a coupon for their free beer. Don’t know a healthcare worker but still want to help? Just register your pint or crowler as “Anonymous” and they’ll save the gift for the next healthcare worker who visits SBC once they’ve reopened.

Even better? Springfield Brewing Company is matching each and every Pint Of Thanks purchase and paying it forward with a free beer to an anonymous healthcare worker.

Vito’s Kitchen

Downtown’s New York-style pizza place has been donating pizzas to first responders and medical teams. With the help of their customers, Vito’s Kitchen has donated pizzas to Fire Stations No. 2 and No. 4, as well as the Cox North ER.

Want to help? Visit Vito’s Kitchen’s Facebook page, or call the shop at 417-569-7555.
