Hotel Vandivort is expanding. Hotel representatives announced today that the expansion will include the construction of an additional 42,000 sqft building. The adjacent building will feature 48 additional guest rooms with upscale design, meeting space and the addition of valet service. Crowning this new development will be The Vantage, a five-story rooftop bar open to the public and providing dramatic views of the Queen City’s historic skyline.

Hotel Vandivort, along with downtown Springfield, has experienced aggressive growth since 2015. “Our first two years have seen a pace of success that was unexpected.” said co-owner Billy McQueary. “This demonstrates the demand from locals and travelers for the authentic urban experience that downtow Springfield provides. We are excited to add to the urban density, and be part of the continued development boom in our center city.” The Downtown area (CID boundaries) has seen a 7% (almost $5M) increase in taxable sales last year alone, with property values increasing by $10M in the last two years, according to Rusty Worley of the Downtown Springfield Association. “This expansion of our operation will continue to fuel the downtown Springfield re-vitalization” said Zackary Oxley, General Manager of Hotel Vandivort. “The plans we have in store will complement other local businesses and strengthen the overall experience here. It’s an exciting time to be part of Springfield and as a recent transplant, this is why I am so excited to be here with my family.”

The expansion will be constructed on the property adjacent to the NW of the current hotel, with a street level walkway connecting the properties. The project is scheduled to break ground in Spring 2018, and is tentatively set to open in Spring 2019. Hotel Vandivort opened in July 2015, and achieved 4 Diamond distinction 3 months later. After just 15 months of operation, Hotel Vandivort was named the 2016 Boutique Hotel of the Year by the Boutique& Lifestyle Lodging Association (BLLA). The upscale, boutique hotel and restaurant was honored to be recognized for this international award which signifies the highest quality of amenities and guest dining and lodging experience within the hotel industry. The BLLA award was presented to Hotel Vandivort at its October 2016 Leadership Symposium in West Hollywood, California.

The property currently offers 50 well-appointed guest rooms, including three suites, two high-tech meeting rooms and the spacious Vandivort Ballroom. A complete restoration of the 1906 Masonic Temple, located at 305 E. Walnut in downtown Springfield, Hotel Vandivort and its restaurant, The Order, have been created as a cultural hub and gathering place for area residents as well as an upscale lodging option for visitors. The building has also received LEED Silver certification in recognition of its environmentally conscious design. Its décor is a contemporary take on a vintage, industrial space with comfortable gathering places in the open-concept lobby and restaurant. The hotel is conveniently located near many of downtown Springfield’s businesses, universities, and visitor attractions.
