Downtown Springfield Association

The Downtown Springfield Association is a non-profit 501c6 community development organization that draws thousands of patrons to its iconic and family-friendly events each year. These events are key to attracting new businesses and residents for Downtown’s continued revitalization.

DSA seeks qualified applicants for its Event Design Intern position. The successful candidate will demonstrate competency in and passion for the following areas:

  • Top notch organizational skills
  • Hospitality-first mindset
  • Basic PR writing know how
  • Creative problem solver
  • Research and data driven
  • Familiar with Google drive products, mail merge, etc.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Spearhead design and branding for the following major community events in Downtown Springfield:

  • Artsfest, May 5 & 6, 2018
  • Taste of SoMo, June 23, 2018
  • First Fridays on the Square (monthly events beginning in May)
  • New events supporting the mission of DSA as approved by the DSA Board

Time Commitment:
Early January through early June, 2018
10-15 hours per week (about 250 hours in total)

This is an unpaid internship that will help you make invaluable connections in the local community—helping you land a top notch job post graduation. In addition, academic credit and flexible work locations can be arranged.
