Pop-up events bring holiday cheer for grownups to Downtown Springfield

December 05, 2019

The holiday season is a great time to be a child. There are Christmas lists to make, visits to Santa, classroom parties, delicious treats and so much more.

Don’t grownups deserve a little fun? Spoiler alert: they do. The good news is there are some great pop-up holiday events in Downtown Springfield to help you feel the holiday cheer. Here’s a closer look.

Miracle On Walnut returns to Missouri Spirits

Missouri Spirits has transformed into a Christmas month-long wonderland, Miracle On Walnut. The distillery is decorated with nostalgic holiday decor. It also has a signature cocktail menu, with drinks like the Christmoplitan and Run Run Rudolph. There is also the newly-created SanTaRex cocktail, served in a standout bright green Tyrannosaurus Rex ceramic mug.

There is no cover charge to visit Miracle on Walnut. Even better, your money goes to a good cause. Missouri Spirits has teamed up with Community Partnership of the Ozarks, so a portion of your purchases benefits CPO.

Miracle, in its sixth year, is a family of Christmas-themed pop-up bars. In 2019 there are more than 100 Miracle and Beachbum Berry Presents; Sippin’ Santa locations worldwide. All participating pop-ups have a festive menu of signature cocktails and shots. They also feature decor inspired by nostalgic vintage Christmas decorations. Love the custom glassware used at Miracle? You can buy them!

There are just four Miracle locations in Missouri. Kansas City has Miracle at Rockhill and Miracle on the Plaza. Miracle at Small Change is in St. Louis. There are Sippin’ Santa pop-ups at Julep in Kansas City and on Locust in St. Louis.

Up to Snow Good for the Child Advocacy Center

Downtown favorites Civil Kitchen and Finnegan’s Wake have teamed up with Jim’s Steakhouse & Pub for a charity pop-up of their own. Up to Snow Good benefits the Child Advocacy Center.

Civil and Finnegan’s will be all decked out in holiday decor. They’ll be selling snowflakes, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting CAC. Check out special cocktails while you’re there. One dollar from each sale also goes to CAC.

Up to Snow Good will host trivia night events at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 and 18. There will also be a Holiday Cocktail Karaoke event at 7 p.m. Dec. 16.

Cocktails with Santa at Hotel V

Want to hang out with Santa Claus himself? Head to Hotel Vandivort at 6 p.m. Dec. 18 for Cocktails with Santa.

There will be yuletide spirits to sip and live music from Shawn Eckels. Bring a toy for the Salvation Army Angel Tree at Hotel V with you and you’ll get one free smoked old fashioned at The Order. Toys will be accepted for children ages infant to teen, remain unwrapped and should not exceed $30. (*limited to one complimentary drink per person.)

This event is for grownups only and admission is free.

Holiday menu at The Golden Girl Rum Club

This is not, technically, a pop-up. But when The Golden Girl Rum Club puts together a new menu, it’s always a celebration.

The Park Central Square tiki bar has unveiled some great drinks for the holiday season. That includes Coquito, a traditional Christmas drink that originated in Puerto Rico. Rum, coconut eggnog, cinnamon and clove make this a can’t-miss drink.
