Googey’s year as reigning Captain Springfield is coming to an end, but before he retires the cape to the rafters, Googey is having one final benefit event, this time Googey wants to highlight some of the amazing local theater in the community.
Friday July 12 at 7:30 p.m., BookMarx is having “A Brief Evening of Theater: A Benefit for Hide Tide Theatrical”. (Josh wanted to make the title even longer but there was a character limit, he had 3 more colons ready to go).
There will be a preview of the upcoming D.O.T.S. Original Play Festival, which is going to be held in downtown Springfield July 18-21 at the Lightroom Lounge and at the Historic Fox Theatre on the Square.
There will also be a table read of “Googey’s War Room” an alternate future short play about a dark vision of a Captain Googey-less world.
Plus a reading of a recently unearthed 2003 satirical play based on a Carman song (Carman the ’80s Christian contemporary singer, yes) written during Josh’s time at Evangel. He trusts there is nothing at all problematic in it, let’s find out together!
Additionally, there will be a 10% storewide sale and 20% of the sales the week of July 8-13 will go to High Tide Theatrical.
