Springfield Little Theatre announces auditions for its upcoming production of LITTLE WOMEN — THE MUSICAL, part of the Education Department’s new Literature to Life Series.

Auditions are open to students and adults of all ages with previous performance experience.

AUDITION WORKSHOPS

Springfield Little Theatre will offer an audition workshop for performers interested in auditioning for LITTLE WOMEN. Participation in an audition workshop is not required to audition.

WHAT TO PREPARE

Please prepare a one-minute vocal selection in a style appropriate to the production. Bring clearly marked sheet music in the correct key for the provided accompanist. Additional vocal selections, readings, or movement may be requested during auditions or callbacks.

REHEARSALS

A first cast and parent meeting will be held Sunday, November 8, 2026, at 7:00 PM at The Judy. Rehearsals begin Monday, November 9, 2026, at 7:00 PM at The Judy.

A detailed rehearsal schedule will be provided at auditions.

Minimal conflicts may be accommodated, but availability for the majority of the rehearsal process is required. All performers must be available for all technical rehearsals and performances. A complete list of conflicts must be provided at auditions.

This production is open to students and adults of all ages with previous performance experience. All roles are available. Springfield Little Theatre welcomes performers of all ethnicities, identities, backgrounds, and body types to audition. Unless otherwise noted, listed ages describe the approximate age of the character and not necessarily the age of the performer.

An aspiring writer with a blazing imagination and no patience for convention. Fierce, funny, and full of “astonishing” stories — the engine of the show.

MARMEE MARCH

Character age: 40s
Vocal range: Alto/Mezzo-soprano

The steady, loving mother holding the family together while her husband is at war. Warmth with a spine of steel.

MEG MARCH

Character age: 18–20
Vocal range: Soprano/Mezzo-soprano

The eldest March sister. Romantic, responsible, and drawn to a quiet life of her own choosing.

BETH MARCH

Character age: 14–16
Vocal range: Soprano/Mezzo-soprano

The gentlest sister, a pianist whose kindness anchors the family. Her story carries the show’s tenderest moments.

AMY MARCH

Character age: 12–16
Vocal range: Mezzo-soprano

The youngest March, dramatic and ambitious, who grows from petulant girl to poised young woman.

AUNT MARCH

Character age: 50s–60s
Vocal range: Mezzo-soprano

The family’s imperious wealthy aunt, determined to make a proper lady of at least one March sister.

LAURIE LAURENCE

Character age: 17–20
Vocal range: Tenor

The charming boy next door, devoted to the Marches and hopelessly fond of Jo.

PROFESSOR BHAER

A serious German professor in New York whose honest criticism — and quiet devotion — changes Jo’s life.
