Grassroots organization MIDxMIDWST launches Kickstarter campaign

March 16, 2021

MIDxMIDWST Mural Art & Festival, is seeking community support through the launch of a Kickstarter Campaign beginning today, March 16, 2021.

A community backing through this Kickstarter is an opportunity for Springfield residents and businesses to help bring a new and exciting public art and music festival to life. The Kickstarter is the first opportunity for festival passes, VIP experiences, as well as exclusive opportunities for swag designed by local artists.

Meg Wagler, founder of MIDxMIDWST and visual artist, hopes this festival can be a catalyst to further develop the Springfield community as a creative hub and open the area as a place of inclusivity. MIDxMIDWST is a 2-day ticketed event, set to debut September 11-12, that will host a hybrid of 9 local and national muralists who will be painting live on downtown buildings alongside two live music stages that will have acts booked throughout the fest.

The organization aims to attract people from surrounding areas to explore Springfield to see what the area has to offer. This is an opportunity to showcase Springfield businesses, infrastructure, and further promote the area to tourists and glean insights from those who attend.

“Not only is this a huge opportunity to bolster our local music and art culture — but to grow it by also connecting with other successful creative ecosystems,” Wagler said. “We’re not just thinking about a single event, we’re looking at ways to holistically entwine vibrant, diverse arts and entertainment into the Springfield storyline on a large scale.”
