Grant Beach residents believe that neighbors should actively participate as a democracy and a community. Grant Beach neighbors are passionate about maintaining and improving a sense of community, motivating the City of Springfield and sustaining neighborhood watch programs. The Grant Beach Neighborhood Association (GBNA) benefits the area within the boundaries of Boonville (east), Kansas Expressway (west), the railroad tracks just north of Commercial street, and Chestnut Expressway (south).
The Grant Beach neighborhood is the proud recipient of several awards including the Bass Pro Neighborhood Challenge, the Pipkin Pirate Dash Neighborhood Spirit Award and the Springfield Safe Community and Injury Prevention Award.
Hovey House serves as a neighborhood hub located on the northeast corner of Grant Beach Park just south of Weaver Elementary. Next to Hovey House is the Grant Beach Community Garden, which is a prime example of the neighborhood’s strong community ties.
Grant Beach hosts a variety of activities each year including the Community Garden Seed Swap, an annual neighborhood cleanup, youth sports programs, a monthly vegan potluck, weekly produce distribution and more.
