Formed is proud to present local artist Phillip Cook of Copper Colorists Legacy. Phillip calls himself a generational artist. He has been blessed to be introduced to the most unique medium of ‘Flame Painting’ through his family. Phillip’s father in-law is known as “The Father of Flame Painting”. He was the first to create the technique Phillip uses to bring out the color and patterns in copper. This is a unique art form where intricate patterns and colors are created on copper without the use of paints or chemicals. The flame from an oxyacetylene torch makes many colors by the number of times the heat is applied, how long it is applied, and whatever is in the air that day. Each piece, therefore, is quite unique.
Stop by for First Friday Art Walk on Friday, August 5 from 6-9 p.m. to learn more about this amazing technique from Phillip himself and enjoy live music by Harley’s Muse from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
