Does any other contemporary filmmaker combine whimsy and poignancy better than Wes Anderson? 2004’s ‘The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou’ is a testament to Anderson’s unique and uncompromising vision as a writer and director.
Bill Murray stars as the titular oceanographer, leading a stellar ensemble cast including Owen Wilson, Cate Blanchett, Willem Dafoe, Michael Gambon, Jeff Goldblum, Anjelica Huston and Bud Cort (Harold from ‘Harold and Maude’!). That’s a lot of talent in one 118 minute film.
The movie also has a hell of a soundtrack featuring Seu Jorge’s singular covers of David Bowie songs. Honestly worth the price of admission alone.
Bring your camp chairs for maximum movie-going comfort. Your $6 admission supports the Moxie Cinema, Springfield’s original home for the cinematic arts. Movie starts at sundown. Doggy Style food truck on hand for the grub!
This movie is rated R for plenty of swears, some tokin’, a handful of brazenly bared nipples, and all-around seck-shoo-al themes. Hubba hubba.
